Ever since I can remember I've been an entrepreneur.

When I was 7 years old, I wrote a series of children's books titled Kate & The Gang, did the illustrations, and converted one or two to audiobooks I narrated using an old-school tape recorder — the kind you could carry around in your backpack.

The books would be "sold" to classmates in exchange for candy or pocket money to buy penny sweets. Life was simple and sweeter back then.

Fast forward to a young woman going to school for Psychology and English Literature studies. At this time, I discovered the late Bill Hicks: a controversial comedian with sketches deeply rooted in humanitarianism. He did this bit where he'd relate marketing to the devil, and it left quite an impression on my post-teenaged brain.

Back then I mostly worked telesales for the beauty industry. These telesales jobs were abundant with a high turnover rate. And it literally felt like soul-sucking work.

Thankfully, the way consumer behavior has evolved, means many businesses, such as yours, use empathy and authenticity as part of their marketing strategy. A progression I'm delighted to have witnessed and play a role in.
